dieselpunk stamp by marquiswyld dieselpunk stamp by marquiswyld
Got into doing animation again - but my 'pooter is old and slow (some days I can so relate to that) and doing 3D work is beyond it's capacity.

So I decided to do a little animated stamp.

I like dieselpunk... so thought I'd make something on that subject.

Enjoy

***done in photoplus10 took around 40 minutes or so - I have NO IDEA how many frames, enough to give it a smooth movement, but not enough to make me get "pixel-eye"***

Heck yes. It's so hard to find anyone who even knows about this stuff. I always talk about or show pics of these to friends and they're all "Oooohhh, SteamPunk :D".

yeah - I have issues with steampunk... namely WTF is it about the dammed cogs and gears?!?! Where did that come from? To get power from a steam engine requires no cogs at all... just a valve and some pistons... you don't even need a gear box... Most people who "Lhuurve Steampunk" have no clue as to it's actual origins (The book "The Difference Engine" by W. Gibson and B. Sterling) and end up looking like they've gone through a Victorian rag market and a Watch factory running at full pelt... Don't get me wrong, Steampunk is a cool genre and there have been some wonderful ideas based on the aesthetic (League of Extraordinary Gentlemen still looks great).... but there seems to be more 'stuff with gears on it' overall, which make me sad as it seems to be a missed opportunity for the potential of the genre.

I know whatcha mean D:. The thing about cogs and gears is to allow them more flexibility in technology and to increase the emphasis on brass pieces.

Because DieselPunk dress looks rather plain and non-flamboyant is the very reason that it doesn't stand out. We also, unfortunately, share a lot of elements with them. Namely, dirigibles, goggles, and emphasis on mechanical workings (though the first and last probably were originally ours but were stolen from us).
